Most people don’t get those experiences because they never ask. I have never found anybody that didn’t want to help me if I asked him for help. I call up Bill Hewlett when I was 12 years old, he lived in Palo Alto and his number was in the phone-book, and answered the phone himself: I am Steve Jobs I am 12 years old I am a student in high school and I want to build a frequency counter, I was wondering if you had any spare parts I could have. and he laughed, he gave the spare parts to build this frequency counter and he gave me a job that summer working in the assembly line putting bolts on frequency counters, and I was in heaven. I have never found anyone who said no or hang up the phone when I called, I just asked. And when people ask me I try to be as responsive to pay that gratitude back. Most people don’t pick up the and never ask and that is what separates sometimes the people who do things from the people who they just dream about it. You got to act you got to be willing to fail, to crash and burn, with people on the phone, starting a company or whatever.
